This is a follow on to the introduction to TE Toolbox - TE Toolbox - what is it? (http://forums.startxchange.com/showthread.php?t=1027)

OK, so you have joined, now what?

There are two main areas you are likely to want to investigate on joining, they are Rotator and Splash Pages.

The Rotator is the heart of the system, it is where you add your sites for rotation in the system.

Adding a site to the rotator
You add the url of the site you wish to add in the box, dont forget if you are copy and pasting the url from another site to make sure you have just 1 http:// or https:// at the start of the site address.
Select what priority you wish the site to have, and click the Add button

What do the different priority settings mean?
You can assign your site one of 4 priority settings:
High
Med
Low
Paused

A High priority site will show more frequently than a Med or Low priority site.
A Med priority site will show more frequently than a Low priority site, but less frequently than a High priority site.
A Low priority site will show less frequently than a High or Med priority site.
A Paused site will not show at all.

NOTE: if all your sites are set to the same priority, it does not matter what priority they are set to, High, Med or Low, they will all show with similar frequency.

What is the little magnifying glass at the start of my site?
The magnifying glass allows you to open the site in a new window or tab of your browser to check it

What are the little traffic lights at the end my site?
Although a site does not have to be approved by the site checker to be rotated, once the site has been checked you will see one of the following symbols at the end of your site

http://www.tetoolbox.com/images/traffic-yellow.pngThe website is rotating, but has not been checked by the automated checker.
http://www.tetoolbox.com/images/traffic-green.pngThe website is rotating, and has passed the automated checker.
http://www.tetoolbox.com/images/traffic-all.pngThe website is reporting an error to the checker. It could be temporarily down or typed incorrectly.
http://www.tetoolbox.com/images/traffic-red.pngThe website is rotating, but it has failed the automated check.

Can I change my site once I have added it?
You may change your site url or priority or sub-rotator status (upgraded members only) at any time, simply make the changes you wish, and click the Save button next to the site address. Remember this will send the site back to the checker for re-checking.

What are the sub-rotator boxes under my site address?
Upgraded members can add up to 10 sub-rotators. A sub rotator is created by linking pages from within the main list to create a series of 'virtual' rotators .
A site may be in more than one sub-rotator - you just tick the box number for each sub rotator you wish it to be in.

How do I select between my main rotator, and sub-rotators to display?
Rotator URLs come in the form:
http://www.tetoolbox.com/r/username/subrotator/tag/

Example 1: Basic Rotator with no tag
http://www.tetoolbox.com/r/username/
Example 2: No Sub Rotator With Tag "StartXchange"
http://www.tetoolbox.com/r/username/StartXchange/
Example 3: Sub Rotator #2 Without Tag (upgraded only)
http://www.tetoolbox.com/r/username/2/
Example 4: Sub Rotator #6 With Tag "Trafficsplash" (upgraded only)
http://www.tetoolbox.com/r/username/6/Trafficsplash/
If you choose your main rotator url, all un-paused sites will be shown
If you choose the sub-rotator id, all the un-paused sites in that subrotator will be shown
If you choose a non-existent sub-rotator id, the default promotion page will be shown.

Dear Richard,
is this not somehow rotator-in-rotator?

Or if i select a subrotator is it shown only this one?

In a subrotator are the same links as in the main rotator, or can be only other links, or both of them?

Or more exactly they are like different rotators and can be set-up each one with different links?

Or the links are the same just the frame/title/band is different?

Too many questions, aren't they?

Thank you,
for this tutorial,

Erzsebet

OK,

You select which sites from your main rotator list you wish to appear in the sub-rotator

Only the sites you have chosen for that sub-rotator will be displayed when you use the subrotator url

Different sub-rotators can contain a different mix of sites.

A site may be in more than one sub-rotator, or just on the main rotator.

Sites in a sub-rotator will still be shown in the main rotator.

If you pause a site in the main rotator, it will also be paused in the sub-rotator.

So you can not set up a sub-rotator with sites that are not also shown in the main rotator.

The frame will still be the same - it does not matter if you use a sub-rotator or main rotator.

I hope this answered your questions :)

Now it's much more clear for me.
I admire your patience to explain so detail.
I'm sure this explanation is very useful also for others, who want to use TEtoolbox rotator more efficient.

Many thanks,
Erzsebet
