Advertising Blogs on Traffic Exchanges (http://www.startxchange.com/info/blog-traffic.php)

Since many members have a tendency to promote a full blog page, when advertising blogs on Traffic Exchanges...This article will show why, in most cases, you should not do that, and the best way to advertise your blog.

The 1st reason for not showing your entire site, is Adsense. If you use Google's Adsense to monetise your blog, you should see Google's note on traffic exchanges (http://adsense.blogspot.com/2007/04/note-on-traffic-exchange-programs.html). The basic reason is due to some TE purposely cheating them...As a consequence, Google Adsense is not allowed on any TE...So sticking your blog in Exchanges with Adsense on it, is a good way to get your account terminated.

The 2nd reason is signups. You want people to come back to your blog, right? Well, with TE, viewers are only on your site for a limited period of time. You cannot expect each member to read every post on your front page, and subscribe too...It's just not going to happen...They will read some, but not all of the page.

The solution is to use Splash Pages. They are basically web pages you create, where the sole purpose is to advertise your site. Your goal is to get the user convinced they need to subscribe to your blog, either by email or RSS. Once they do, they'll come back to your site many times as you update it. Not just whenever they happen to see your site in the Exchange.

And finally, note that it is not necessary for you to use a "Blog Traffic Exchange" to advertise your blog. You can advertise your blog on any Manual Traffic Exchange. Just be sure to use splash pages to really benefit from it.

NOTE: Splash Pages are also a great way for promoting your Affiliate Programs in the Exchange Community as well...You can brand yourself by adding your photo, your name plus a brief testimonial about the offer you are advertising and either the Home Page URL or your email address for further details...

Remember when creating your Splash Page, that you want to direct your visitor's attention to the Product, Program or Service you are advertising and NOT the background...In addition, you will want to restrict your Splash Page viewing area to 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 and be sure to keep your content centered on the page...Since most viewers won't have enough time or want to be bothered with scrolling across or down the page to read everything...

One last thing, when advertising or promoting...Spelling Does Count!

And also, just wanted to mention that using Traffic Exchanges really does work...Out of 33 Referrals that I have gotten since Jan 2008, over half of them came from EasyHits4u where I am promoting StartXchange and the rest are from direct referrals or by searches...

Some great advice. I would like ditto the use of Splash Pages, but my biggest pet peeve is spelling. I know I am not perfect at spelling and many of us get in a hurry when posting things. But when advertising and marketing you need to proofread.

I will never join a program or site that has not taken the time to proof read their information and present a professional image.
