NOTE: This post has been copied to both New Users Forum and Comments, Suggestions and Help
I am looking at updating and consolidating the information provided to new (and not so new) members of StartXchange, including possibly explaining some commonly used terms and expressions.
Questions such as:
What is a splash page?
What is the difference between traffic, hits and visitors?
Why don't I get a visitor back when I visit other peoples sites?
What do the various options 'mean' on the report page drop-down menu?
What is TEToolbox?
etc.
This would be intended to complement rather than replace existing help such as the videos and current posts in the new user forum.
Firstly, would members find this useful?
Secondly, what questions/topics would you like to see covered?
I am not promising to cover everything, but I would like to get a feeling for where, if anywhere, members feel the information is lacking or unclear.

Hi
I think that would help a lot.
It would save you and others for time.
To supply more question...no, not me, its better to look at the "statistic" of what's being asked then..I think.

You knew the answer to that first one already, huh. LOL
Hey, I want to know what happens to the "impressions" we win when surfing?
I mean, are they banner impressions?
Are they delayed in being credited to our account?
Are they website "hits"?
and if we don't see them showing up, how do we report it?
and...which one of your instructions for newbies covers this?
Kind regards!

the answer to your first question is a resounding YES!
As for the second - the list you made would be a really good start - I'm so new at this I'm not sure yet what I don't know so any extra info you can provide would be super welcome.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to do this for us.

If nobody has answered your question about the won "impressions,"
then I will...Any and all impressions you win on the "Claim a Prize"
page are immediately added to your banner impressions total...
Any credits you have won and will win get added to the Bank...
If you should win coupons, they have to be used for
credit purchases within the alloted time frame...
Any other prizes you win are immediately
applicable for a limited amount of time...
Unfortunately, I have not covered the "Claim a Prize" page
in the Ideas for "Getting Started" Series...as yet anyway...
I am always open to any suggestions
and comments from ALL New Members!
Also, you are welcome to rate any and
all posts in the New User Forum Thread!

What is the difference between traffic, hits and visitors?
I found out the anwser to this one about 3 years ago and its pretty simple. A hit is someone that just stops for 5 - 10 seconds and moves on and a visitor is someone that spends more then 20 seconds on your page reading it. I do that with alot of new sites. In fact I spent about 20 minutes on a new site the other day just checking it out and forgot I was in the middle of surfing lol.
