Hi everyone! :)

We just created a new splashpage that models one of the features that our members have within our exchange.

It's an extremely unique idea and in the past 2 days we have been advertising this splash, it has been sparking interest, but I wanted to see if anyone here had suggestions on changes they think would further improve it??

Here is the link: http://www.surftosuccess.com/wheel/wheel-splash.php

Beware though- this is interactive and a bit addictive. LOL!

Thanks in advance!

I cannot open it because of my particular settings...

Am not allowing any Flash...ActiveX or much of anything
to open up while surfing the Exchanges

I agree with BJ,

This is what I see with my standard surf settings.

Try not using flash on splash pages - they take too long to load, and many people block flash content anyway :)

Me neither. I consider ActiveX and flash annoyances that I want to be without. I have eliminated them completely from my system, and not only disable them when surfing TEs.

ActiveX can certainly be much more than an annoyance; it opens for a lot of bad software that you don't want to sneak into your computer.

Hmm... well I guess that does pose a problem, but considering this is an interactive splash, flash was the only option we could use :(

The first 5 times I tried to open it ,it would not open. Then on the sixth try it started to open every time. I am using home edition Windows XP, with out active X .

Considering the fact that many user disallow flash and won't see you page at all, I would find another solution.
About being interactive: I can't judge about that, since I don't see the page, but intuitively JavaScript comes to mind. There's not a single TE that doesn't depend on it, so if you don't have JavaScript enabled, you won't be able to use them.

Unless like an increasing number of people, you are using the firefox NoScripts add-on, which will mean that things such as Flash, javascript, activeX, etc are blocked unless specifically allowed for that site :)

I keep seeing this lovely site that thinks I have a "problem" because I don't allow javascript, and the owner tells me how to fix this problem, not thinking that for many this is intentional ;)

Although the site that makes me smile the most is a splash page that has a contact form totally powered by the aweber script, so if you have not got aweber enabled it is totally impossible to contact this person !! :D

so, sadly an interactive splash page is almost certain to not work with a large section of the TE community

At work I have to disable flash. I don't own the machine, and flash requires administrative rights to update. Some people do flash and don't do any version validation. So, instead of getting a message telling me my flash is obsolete, it just crashes because it is not compatible with my system.

I love the splash page but what people are saying about flash is true. It will prevent a lot of people from seeing the page.

Maybe you could reduce the font sizes so you don't have to scroll down and I am not fond of redundant backgrounds...

You want your viewers attention directed to what is being offered that will be of benefit to them and NOT the background which to me is a total distraction and also can in most cases slow down the loading time...

Otherwise it is a very interesting and unique Splash Page...
