It's not a splash page, but a script I have written exclusively for my team members.

Please click this link:

HOURGLASS (http://bonus.upandforward.com)

and tell me what you see. Unless you're a member of Team UpAndForward, you should get an error message when you give your username. I would like to know if that really works properly.

There was an error in the script that I think I have found and corrected now. It's hard for me to check everything myself, so I need help. I certainly get some help from my team members), but I also need some help from someone who is NOT in the team. If you get a message to that effect, it should be right.

Hi Inge

It worked well for me. Put in my user name and it said I was not a member of your team. Maybe you could write the script to redirect those people to my team!!

I had to allow the script to run though as I use an antiscriptong program to allow faster surfing.

This is something you may need to point out to your team inge, if they are not allowing scripts to run (no-scripts on firefox springs to mind), it will not work regardless of if they are members of your team or not!!

If you have disabled JavaScript you'll get a warning message, that's all.

For people using FireFox it won't work anyway, because FireFox does not transfer vital information.

In all my years of using the Net JavaScript has NEVER given me any trouble, so I can't see any reason at all to disable it. People have sent me JavaScript snippets to demonstrate problems, but those are only related to Flash and ActiveX, and THOSE I have disabled. Saves me a LOT of trouble and annoyance. Besides, JavaScript is an established web standard (Invented by Netscape BTW and endorsed/further developed by ECMA), while Flash and ActiveX are proprietary and subject to change any time.

it worked for me in that it wouldnt allow me to do anything once I had typed in my username and I run noscript so if the site is enabled it should work

Unkless noscript blocks everything (not only JavaScript) you should get an error message. Did you?

I got the same message as Terry, but I am using Firefox so that might be why.

It turns out that FireFox is not to blame after all, but your message still indicates that something doesn't work quite right.

yes it was at the bottom of the page

I retried it to make sure of the wording lol

you may not like this Inge but I typed in BCT whom I happen to know is a member and it gave her 50 credits which tells me that if you know a member then you can give them more credits if you find the page as it doesnt know who I am except for the username.

Admitedly I didnt get the credits

so it may be open to abuse

if BCT asks about the credits blame me lol

I never thought it could be abused like this but of course placing the link here was not something I had though about from the beginning. I did to get some additional help with debuging.
The site is blocked from search engines, and MUST be clicked from the forum. Any other referrer will be rejected -- including no referrer.

No credits are given until I go through the records on Saturdays. It's not possible to transfer the credits directly.

But Judith will surely get those credits! That's nothing but nice! :)

If you click again after an hour you'll be assumed to be bct/Judith unless she has been there in the meantime and corrected her username.
If comeone discovers that their name has been used, theoretically the "abuser" can be revealed via their IP-address and time of entry. Things are being logged! :)

thats what I always teel those who are trying to cheat though not the ip address but I do log all the surfing going on in the team for prize purposes etc.

Also anyone can click TEAMS in the forum and then Upandforward and get a list of at least 30 team members that they can send 50 credits to. This could be trouble.!!

What do you mean? What kind of trouble?

How many of our members do you think would object to receiving some extra credits?

Besides, it would be very hard to send credits to 30 members, and not only because we don't have that many membrs ... :)

They are from me, and they are transferred manually. There's anti-abuse protection as well. You shouldn't be able to send an excessive number of credits to anyone. You're free to try.

This has been sorted now so I don't need more help. The script is made for team members exclusively, and all you should see is the error message.

The team member list is actually downloaded from StartXchange at regular intervals, and the script checks against that.

It's sooo good when something actually works! :)

This script has been removed now. It simply gave the team members too many credits than I could handle! :)
