Hi folks.

Earlier I build and hosted webpages at http://www.homestead.com/
Now I want yet again to start up with webpages, made just by me.
One hosting service I think of joining is http://www.vodahost.com/
Any thoughts or experience with the best of these two?
One major factor is that it has to have a "site builder tool" within.

You could try:
http://pages.google.com

It may or may not have enough features for you, but it is free and has an editor.

Hey Tim

Yes, I know about my google account, but they do not give domains name, just a URL like //yoursitename.googlepages.com...uhh.
Its always somethings you know.
Thank's for the reply though...it takes hours surprisingly to get someone to post their ref-url to a good program...but hey...we are going to live a bit longer :-)

Regards

Ole

btw. money is no problem...it do not need to be free, those pages we have tons of in Norway :-)

I run a hosting service at hawkinzwebhosting.com (http://www.hawkinzwebhosting.com/), although I am not free, I am fairly cheap. As part of the package, you have access to Pro Edition and Templates Express for site building.

If you want more details, or a trial run with a dummy account, just drop me a PM

Hi dehawkinz.

Well, what can I say...like before, money no problem, but you have to generate more positive feedback on the sitebuilder...
WhAT...yOUR name puts me back in the 70tees when a band called Hawk Wind - it was ruling the world...of course toghether with other species of the 70 - 80tees.
(who do not remember the :p "Eight Miles High"- - :pwith - The Byrd's, played together with Hawk Wind )
Off limit---where am I---uhh---Tim watching  ---shutdown---ok, I see you)))
So, I am sure glad you responded to this post...your business is one of them I going to choose from dehawkinz...

So far so good.

But the sitebuilder...is very important to me though...

Ok...you have given me a Trial period ...haven't you...

Sorry, I would pm this, but this board is so diff. I couldn't find how to reply privately. Was wondering how your service compares to ixweb hosting (http://www.ixwebhosting.com/templates/ix/v2/affiliate/clickthru.cgi?id=jcslight)I was looking at. I've been looking for cheap hosting if my site out grows my e-mail provider's free webspace. I'm with Ole, about the "free domain urls." My current one is home.comcast.net/~jcslight/
;-)

This is a cool thread!

I have tried several hosts, including some of the very popular ones, like the ".ws" sites, dreamhost, midway etc.
They all lack very important features. For hosts with very nice price offers you'll find that nearly nothing works, they use an antique php version, there's no support, and you don't get your money back.
It's very important to me that I get support when I need it -- which is not often but sometimes I need to have things done on the server side that I can't control myself, and then you depend on someone who knows what they are doing and do it.
My host does all this and more for a fair price. I've used them for about 4 years and just paid for the next three. It's not the cheapest, but going by price alone is a Big Mistake. I think this must be one of the very best. I have 5 domains hosted with them. The only reason to try other hosts was to have an alternative, but now I'm done trying other hosts because nothing compares.
Ace-host.net offers Site Builder, but I don't use such software so I haven't tried it.
My link is here:
http://ace-host.net/idevaffiliate/idevaffiliate.php?id=328
The hosting package I use is called AcenetHostingSpecial.

DeHawkinz has very nice offers for starters, and you know you'll get the support you need!
I haven't tried them but I've seen his offers and we all know his positive attitude. I don't think you could go very wrong there! :)

I am lucky to have an awesome host. He also speaks to everyone before they get hosting.I like that my site is on a server that does not have "Junk" sites. He has been a great asset because I can skype him at anytime & get help. I am not sure if he has the site builder, but I know I have (what I call) a full cpanel. LCW Hosting (http://www.lowcost-webspace.com/)

I would say to watch FREE hosting & cheap domain names. I have seen far to many time where people got 'left in the cold' had domains sold out from under them & lost their entire site content.
Also any web hosting that requires you to register a domain through them can put you in another HOSTAGE situation. It is far to easy (and just as cheap) to register a domain name - in your name. Then you are the owner. Places that require you to register in their name are just making money off of you & control you! I know it is illegal to hold or sell your domain name by these companies but, by the time you are done arguing with them - your domain is gone!
Register domain names in YOUR name - Don't be held hostage! HERE (http://www.namecheap.com/index.asp) (this is not an affiliate - I make no money off this).
I hope this info helps you get your site up & going safely.

Thankfully, not all hosts are bad domain registrars, but it is good advice to get your domain separate from your hosting.

I use Yahoo and Dynadot for domains. For hosting, I use GDI, Yahoo, and Dehawkinz service.

Yahoo comes up in both categories because I needed something handy and low-cost from a company I could trust and Yahoo is trustable (despite being fruity with some of their free services).

Dynadot was my solution to the fact that Yahoo doesn't do transfer ins (if you register the domain elsewhere, you can only use Yahoo hosting with it). They offer fair prices on domains, offer what looks like a basic hosting service, and my transfer in (from MS Live Office's freebie) was as smooth as it could possibly be.

When it comes to site builders, going with Dehawkinz hosting service is a great idea. The one he has loaded is easy to use, has a great selection of templates, and is customizable. For the price Dehawkinz is requesting, it's a steal.

GDI...I don't think it's best for either domains or hosting, it's more of a solution service and is my top pick for if you're after a WS domain (a fine and under-estimated extension) (and want a good affiliate program too).

If you want a referral link, I have one for Yahoo Hosting, GDI, and Dynadot (PM me for them), but for the needs stated here, I vote for Dehawkinz Hosting.

I'd agree with Inge's thoughts - it seems to me as very good offer, with well tailored packages and really fair prices.
Although I'm already using other hosting for long time, if someone would asked me advice, I'd recommend hawkinzwebhosting (http://hawkinzwebhosting.com)as a reasonable choice.

Hi ,
I have used ICDsoft for my hosting for 3 years now. I can definitely recommend them. Excellent service, Inexpensive domain name if you host with them and a nice easy to use CP panel. Go and have a look at their site here
http://www.ICDsoft/
You can also become a reseller or an affiliate for them.
Good luck.

If you are a Newbie in this area, a host with cPanel is your best bet because of the security.

I own my own server, plus have been with Powweb.com since 1998 or 1999, plus I have an account at http://www.anhosting.com because it has cPanel
Fantastico, which allows me to create a blog in seconds for Adsense revenue!
Has Online Tech support 24/7 on the site in "Live" time!
For $6.95 a month and On-site builder, you can't beat it!

Powweb allows me enough space for peanuts to back up my computer in a password protected file and run sites off it as well, uptime is second to none. Doesn't have cPanel.

1and1.com, the Mysql would not work right, they charged my credit card 6 months after I left like AOL use to do......

Lucidityhosting.com, had to call them weekly or every few days to get my site back online, then was accused of burning up 3 Hard drives!

I'm sorry but does anyone have any experience or comments with Kiosk.ws for webhosting?

I have tried GDI, which is the "mother" of the ws domain. Couldn't use them because they lacked very important features. Wouldn't be able to run my websites there.

I also own a couple of private domains under the ".no" TLD, but what the registrar offers for website is only down to basics and can't be used for anything practical. I'm afraid that several of the cheap hostings can't be used for more than simple splash pages.

I generally recommend GDI to people new in web building or overwhelmed by coding for the editor. It's not the greatest but it does work (definitely an improvement over Windows Office Live) and learning how to use it is relatively simple compared to other hosts. Someone with little experience and maybe an hour can set up a very much functional website without dealing with more than minor visual tweaks in coding (text size and variants, images, etc).

It's hard to ignore than even a GDI site beats free hosts just by the branding (me.ws instead of freewebs.com/me247).
