That's because we have various activity competitions. You get points for surfing, taking part in the forum, promoting SX etc.

Your activity level determines one of the surfing bonuses you get. The lower your rank goes, the lower your level, and the higher your bonus (up to 10%). Some teams also use ranks to determine internal rewards as well, but it's not the main function.

In short, it's about rewarding people who surf more.

My rank gets higher every night. Feels like I am getting nowhere. :-(

Nicole if you are consistent say surf 500 or 1000 sites a day, and promote SX you will see yourself increase in rank(get better with a lower number) we all started where you are. Talk to your Team Leader they will be happy to help you.

Dear Nicole, don't worry about your rank!

You are a very good surfer, we are proud of you.
As Sandra said we all started where you are. After all you can learn from our teammate soph. She doesn't worry so much of the rank, but she is on top again surfing almost every day 500-1000 sites, as you do otherwise.

So, don't worry, be happy !

Well, I posted about Rank in the old forum when it got updated at closing. 2 weeks ago I used to surf 800 to 1500 & sometimes 2000 page views but my rank also keep getting higher. I even participated in every activities I can to help contribute for the Team. I was a bit up-set initially but in the end I just surf normally while looking at some new sites & do some post when I am free.

I don't race like when I started on 18th Feb.'08, while I raced up to Level #4 at Rank#13 in 12 days from Level #12 at approximately Rank#2400 if I don't recall wrongly. After that the Rank keep on getting higher even though I surfed 800-1500/2000 views,so now I don't stay up almost whole night to surf.

Anywhere, like what Erzsebet mentioned, teddyrux98, don't worry so much about the rank & just do your best to surf whenever you can or convenient.

Enjoy the Surfing & look at some new sites if it interest you, that's all I can say unless you can surf like some members who are doing real marathon then you can see the rank lower.
