View Full Version : How many Traffic Exchanges do You Surf?

I surf several traffic exchanges for numerous reasons. The better reason for sticking to surfing so many sites is to connect with as many surfers as possible in order to build a bridge of trust.
I have been building an on-line business for the past three years and am beginning to notice and recognize members from community to community. Example, there is a StartXChange Member that is also a Hubpage publisher.
Just curious about how many TEs You Surf
I surf 15-20 sites every day. StartXchange is always open when I'm at the computer, the others I surf for about an hour (about 50 views on each).

I did not vote as I was not sure if you meant number you surf at a time, number you surf in a day, or total number of exchanges that you are a member of
I am a member of over 30 exchanges, but limit my surfing to only 4 - 5 at a time. If you have more than that open, you can find it too easy to just 'click-and'tab' to the next site and not pay attention to the sites you are surfing. It is the principle of doing to others the courtesy you would like them to do to you :)
I generally do not surf more than 10 different exchanges in a day, but have a surf schedule in a spreadsheet to help me plan out which exchanges to surf, so I do not miss any out, and still give priority to upgraded exchanges.

I voted for 2 to 5 because that is how many I might surf in a day. However, I am a member of the many more exchanges. I used to surf four to five at one time, but there was always lag switching between the exchanges and I ended up being too distracted. Now I only surf a maximum of two and only rarely. Instead, I might multitask between two computers and when I see something interesting in the exchange, I will open the site in a new tab and a bookmark it. Overall, other members still have their sites seen by me, perhaps even more so, for sites that catch my eye will be viewed when I can give them full attention.

Consistently, I would surf 5 main TEs per day which means the same 5 will be log-in everyday when I sit in front of my PC.
For 15 other TEs that I joined, I will try & surf whenever possible, so as not to be too distracted.
Cheers..

I forgot to tell you I am surfing 4 sites (one is SXC) all the day, and other sites for one hour or to reach at least 100/120 pages.

I'm probably the only one that'll answer 1 =P But it probably comes as no surprise that I don't really surf the other exchanges. Occasionally but generally speaking not ;-)

Thanks Tim (it's a Roman slang way to speak, pardon), you don't need it!:)
If I were young...but I am too old (62) to begin a my own business, also unfortunately I am seriously not well.
However, I wish to you all a fastest and greatest success; and it will be My success.:)

I have about 6 that are on my everyday list. Then I have additional ones for each day of the week. I don't always get to those, but I try.

I used to surf at least 13 to 15 TE before, now I've reduced to 7 and upgraded to all, seems to be more efficient. I'm sometimes tempted by joining others but not sure it's worth it. My routine is ideally 3 sessions per day to fit in the time differences.

Hi Tim,
Thanks... understood as an owner.
The money is still in the list. Well, once I have build a big enough list, I might be surfing only 2 TEs next time. One would be SX + another that I am happy with & feel it's worth.
Have you seen my post on HEROs ? Did you manage to hear one successful marketer saying that Startxchange is the TE to join in the Intant Tele-seminar which I attended about 2 weeks back ? Tim with Startxchange is the best with his TE & Forum.. You are a Hero, man...
Best Regards,

I only surf at most 7 TEs. I always track my traffic results with statcounter or Google Analytics, and my clickthru's with an adtracker. Also I make sure I look that the top TEs over at TrafficHoopla and Tim's TrafficExchangeList to see what I'm missing.

Hi Tim,
Is there a setting problem ? I use to see it previously very often in Hoopla even before I join SX in Sept.'07. I only see the good things here in mid-Feb.'08 when I understand more about SX.
Actually, the Tele-Seminar that mention about SX is a TE to join was on 31stMarch'08. Blogging4boomers by Pat. She knows you well Tim as she mention only SX & TrafficSwarm.
Cheers..

Not a setting problem, more of a lack of tracking stats on their part. It's been a long time running thing, they just don't like StartXchange for whatever reason.
Yes Pat is great! Used to talk to her a whole lot more before she became so famous =P

Very good question, which helps me to see how most people getting their website viewed and maybe used, hence success. I do 5 or 6. StartXchange Forum is the best, thanks to my teamleader.

Hi Tim,
I noticed that it didn't show in Traffic Hoopla after change of the New Fresh Look for SX. Could there be ID or whatever that you need to re-submit to Hoopla. I am not good in any technical part of it, just sharing what I think.
Why don't they like StartXchange ? You are well-known by many now with your SX reputation.
I just hope things can be sorted out.
All the Best..

Well they've claimed that I cheat them or try to make them look bad because I run Traffic Exchange List. Which I only created because I wanted a way to see exchanges ranked without having to pay. I don't make any income from TEList so it doesn't matter to me if there are competitors so =P

So how does SX actually rank? I find that EasyHits4U is really slow in traffic delivery and that my traffic stats for WebBizInsider is off by about 900% compared to what they claim...
As a sidenote, why don't you monetize TrafficExchangeList?

i surf 20 or so regularly. I surf the top sites recommended by Tim mostly. SX is my all time fave, followed by Web Biz Solutions.

I voted for the exchanges I surf at once. With 10 second timers so prevailent, I find it best to surf 2-3 at the one time. Sometimes I'll even surf just one. I find SX is the most addictive, because of the level progression (to increase the good ole surf ratio) and the team contests.
IMHO, SX is better than PODS/TS25/Any loogiescape site too :):D:cool:

Surfing more than 1 exchange can only help your business get noticed....managing your time is the hardest part of surfing multiple exchanges...I try to surf at leaset 3 exchanges a day, 1 main and I rotate 2 others everyday...seems to work for me....
Good luck everyone...Keep Smilin' ...:D
Of course one is not enough! You'll show your pages to more people if you use more exchanges. Showing them to more people is more useful than showing them more times to the same bunch.

I surf 13 but not at one time.......LOL......sometimes I surf one, and sometime more at a time, but never more than four at a time.
I spend about an hour each day surfing all my TEs, but all day long, as long as I'm using the computer, I surf here at SX.

I surf 10 or so per day and about 150 total. I have my favorites and do surf those every morning before work, after I get home I just surf a random 10.

I am lucky to surf 2-5 a day. I actually have a need for more than one ME cause there's just too much to do to be online all day. Especially every day.
Today's fiasco, a plumbing leak from the dishwasher.
Wonder what tomorrow will bring -- oh yeah, I have to dig holes for THREE trees to be planted. Sheesh. Good thing I'm not always a girlie-girl :D

I'm a member of about 12 but only surf around 4-5 at any one time. I find that if you try to surf them all at the same time, it can be hard to build up your credits.

There was a mantra a few years back that Jon Olson (he of Ilovehits/swattraffic/HEN/Affiliate funnel/more?) was trying to promote to encourage a balanced approach to surfing he called it
"no more than four"
The reasoning is actually very simple - four exchanges, especially if they are of a similar timer length, give you time to view each page and see what they are promoting without having too long a gap between the timer and your cycle of pages. Obviously if you are surfing 30 second timer exchanges, you could possibly add a couple more sites to make it
"six in the mix"
but the principle is the same - you do not stretch your computer system resources trying to display too many pages at once, and every member gets a fair chance to have their site viewed. Remember if all you are doing is loading your multi-tab browser with dozens of exchanges and madly 'click-tab-click-tab-click-tab-...' through them, why should anyone else spend time to look at your site, and if no-one is looking at your site, what benefit do you gain from using a traffic exchange in the first place?
as the saying goes
"treat others as you would want them to treat you"

ok, if we surf just for surfing, ok, we do not need to surf more than one.
If I do for really make marketing, I have to choice my surf, try them, and decide which are better to let see my product.
The fact is the same like if an industry had to do a marketing campaing.
This compagny may not choice just one TV network but at least the most chains that joined their potentials customers, chose hours, spot, and so on.
I really like startXchange.

ok, and other important fact.
We know all that people Zapping. The term start to be very in use when people zapping on TV adds. Changing from chain to other and other...
But now, people always zapping from a place to an another, not just from chain to chain.
A moment they are in front of TV, the next is in metro or on the road, the next is on shopping centers, the next is on Internet or kids activities and so on.
People move and fast, that a fact we may not change or forget. We have to fix our goals considering all those.
Respect our customers is the first step for being able to capt their attention on what we have to offer to them.
Thanks !
Have a really great day !

I am in the 9+ category. I belong to over 40 exchanges. I also use a spreadsheet tht list the exchanges in blocks of 10, I surf each block on a different day of the week. Each block is split in 2 so I actually am surfing 5 exchanges typically at one time. Anymore than that, and I find you do not get to read the sites that are viewing. However, I will make a note on that subject, if the page is not a Splash Page, and I can get the message in about 3-4 seconds, I dont bother to read it and click on by.
As a new TE owner myself, I feel it is in my interest to belong to several exchanges and visit them regularly. It helps me to learn and manager my exchange.

Right now I only surf one traffic exchange, and have all the credits fluxed to advertise a line of other traffic exchanges. I find it easier to surf only one, this is more relaxing and I can devote greater attention without stressing out over multiple statsistics. I feel like I can become a more deep-rooted member of the community this way as well. =)

I always surf Startxchange. Sometimes I surf up to 7 or 8 TEs at a time. Startxchange is always one of the mix along with TrafficSwarm and MaxTrafficPro. The rest I switch up on as I am a member of 25 TEs right now
I like to match them by counter number but make exceptions as I like to include Startxchange and Trafficswarm in my daily surf.
