Hi All
If you didn't catch the newsletter last night, here it is again!
There is now a new daily prize system that is replacing the wordgame. The new system will give you a random prize every 100 page views, and will enter you into the daily drawing of a much larger prize. Each member can get up to 10 entries into the larger drawing.
Currently the prizes are 1000, 750, and 500 credits.
Remember to subscribe to the newsletter for important updates!

Hi Tim,
Thank you.
I read this newsletter earlier today morning, but sincerely I couldn't understand how the new prize works. I only understood 1 prize each 100 sites, and it seems to me not different from "complete a word".
Thanks for your time.

The difference is that you don't need to click anything to get entered in the drawing.

Yes - good the new system - I often forgot to click on wordgame, let alone to see if I got a prize to claim :)
Also encourages at least 100 clicks a day to be in with a chance - even with dialup, its not a huge commitment timewise!

Gee and I had just figured out the word game...LOL I do like this though, no extra work on my part to be entered.

Like change. Rewards surfers by giving incentive to at least go100 pages. More surfers, more exposure.

Hi,
1. We MUST click "claim a prize" to win and to get entered in the drawing!
2. This "game"/"prize" is alone: before, we could hope in "claim a prize" and in "claim-your-word": now we can hope only in "claim a prize", and we know only each 100 sites surfed!
Were the fun is?
Let me know what you think about, please.
Anyway, Tim, it don't seem to me a bad decision about prizes distribution.
Thank for your time

Hey
The difference is the combination of the random prize and the word game. Previously the word game would complete in 100 views, and the random prize would show up randomly (sometimes taking over 200 views).
Now you get the random prize more often, and you get the entry to win the bigger prize with it. It's simpler and cleaner. With all the levels and points, a little bit of simplicity will make it easier for new members to use and stick around for ;-)

Still think that 3 to 5 credits as a prize for 100 clicks is a bit of a bummer.
Don't mean to be critical but I think a little more generosity would go a long way as I surf SX every day.

You currently can get up to 12, which is essentially a 12% bonus for 100 pages viewed. If you go too high then the ratio would be too much. That's why you'll also get the "ticket" for the daily prize which is high. I can give away a couple bigger prizes that are great to get, but still keep it all in a good ratio ;-)

It is interesting that the same person was RANDOMLY
picked 2 days in a row and won a grand total of 1750
credits?! That is some coincidence, dontcha think?
Mind you, I am not complaining or anything like that...
Just thought I would point it out!
God Bless and Keep on surfing...

I liked the word game but this is also a good way to get people to surf at least 100. Surfers, carry on!

Well statistically speaking you could flip a coin and get heads 10 times in a row, and the 11th flip it'll still be a 50/50 chance of heads. So it can seem not random if the same person wins twice, but I actually think it proves it is random because if I was picking them, I wouldn't pick the same person =P

Hi msbeejay,
Let me know please if does "dontcha" mean "don't" and, if you can, how did born this word.
I like very much the glottology.
Take care
Noemi

Don't you
....glottology.
Now there's a word I need to look up ... :)
Got it:
Glot`tol´o`gy
n.1.The science of tongues or languages; comparative philology; glossology.

Inge was correct...It is a combination of don't and you put together to add a little light humor in one's comment to somebody else.

I am waiting for my name to be randomly chosen. I never saw the complete-a-word contest. I always kept missing it. Oh well. :-) I like the new contest better anyway.

I like it better this way. Seems to me you are getting more for every 100 sites; you get a prize plus you get entered into the drawing. Where as before you only got entered into the drawing. Good idea again Tim:D

I have to say that I really like the changes that have been made to StartXChange. I also like being able to win a lot of credits, which I've been able to a couple of times. It doesn't happen as often as I like, but that is just being selfish on my part. It's human nature to want more for your self.
Keep up the good work!
Sincerely,
Terry

I miss the complete a word StarXchange on the surfbar.
Let's have a vote to bring it back.
