Lately I have clicked a site and then when the next one loaded, the icons to make the match have not appeared. So what I have done is guess where the right one might be and I've been correct about 50%. This stinks because you get no credit if you are wrong.
It's weird, only happens every now and then, but when it starts I get about 5-6 of them in a row. Then I shut down and log in again and it seems to go away.
Anyone else getting this?
I make sure to clean browser..that's not the problem.
This happens from time to time because the http protocol is old, primitive, and prone to errors.
The strange thing is that the TCP/IP protocol itself has its own error checking (and acknowledge), but still http messages won't always come through. I think the error happens more often when there's a high load or routing problems.

I'll keep a look out for how many are surfing when it happens to see, thanks Inge
I don't think that how many are surfing in StartXChange has so much to do with it. It's more the general load on the network. Remembers, each datablock on the Internet has to pass through several computers on its way, and sometime one route doesn't work so another must be found. This takes time and may lead to some extra problems.

That's true, however it would be interesting to see if traffic volume at SX is also a factor that contributes to the event.

If you are using IE, you can try right-clicking where they are supposed to be, and selecting show picture. That will usually get them to redisplay.
That used to work Sharon, but when I tried it some time ago it didn't. I think Tim has done something to "hide" the icons behind the foreground with the moving dots. If that one shows and the icons don't, I don't know how to have them displayed again.

So I see, I haven't had a problem with them in quite a while, so I hadn't noticed.

Good one..but not what I meant;)
I hope the poor bugger isn't poor..We'll have to take up a collection for him
so he can pay for the hosting.
I know it wasn't what you meant. He's doing an excellent job, and I think and hope that he gets good pay for it.
He could have made an additional income by selling his StartXChange script, but he doesn't, so he won't have his own customers competing with him! :)

LOL
actually the original version of the StartXchange script was available - it is the TCNTE script - I believe the current owners are re-vamping it prior to being re-released.
But Tim never released all the features into the commercial script - he kept a competitive advantage :)

Is anyone still using the TCNTE script? :)

Inge...Get's your facts straight
We can't have the propogation of myths
What facts, and what myths?
Can you answer the question?
Probably Tim can, but the fact is that if I've seen it in use, I haven't been able to identify it.

Actually it's not.. There might be similarities because I have a certain way of thinking, but the core is totally different ;-)

Yes, many are.. Traffic Splash, Traffic Roundup, and a bunch more. You don't see many new ones with it because the script is not available for sale right now.

I make sure to clean browser..that's not the problem.
When that happens to me, all I do is right click the -x- and when the menu opens up, I scroll down to "show the picture" and voila, the icons appear...most of the time...There have been times when it did not work and like you had to pick a random spot, then hope for the best...
God Bless and Keep on surfing...
