View Full Version : I have a question about Traffic Exchanges

This is for all the experts out there. What can you do to maximize your effectiveness in traffic exchange, other than buying credits or surfing a lot? Other than StartXchange, what other kinds of exchanges do you recommend? I only ask that one because I figure I can't put all my advertising eggs in one basket--I want to get my site seen, obviously! (BTW, if you want to take a peek at my site, see my sig.)

I look forward to hearing from you!

The short answer to your question is

Make yourself stand out

Don't just promote the same pages everyone else does
Don't promote in the same way everyone else does

You want to grab peoples attention, so you need to look different

Splash pages and banners are a great way of promoting yourself in a different way - HINT DON'T just use the company/TE system splash pages, everyone else is already doing that. make your own, or get someone to make them if you are not confident of being able to do it.

Also, try to think of new places of promoting your site(s) As well as Traffic Exchanges I also use PTR/PTC sites. Do you know anyone who has a website who would be willing to let you put a banner / text link on it? Print a T-Shirt with a (short) url that links to your sites, or a page that introduces your sites. Put a sticker in your car window.

LOL there are a few ideas to start you thinking :)

Basically, if you follow the herd, you will blend in with the crowd and find it hard to be seen.
Plough your own path, and you will be sure to stand out.

Thanks DeHawkinz.

getbetterhealth, you should do a search in this forum for the term splashpage, lead capture page, traffichoopla and trafficexchangelist. You'll pick up some tips on how other people use TEs effectively and which ones they surf.

Thanks, pericles. I'll do that soon (putting it on my to-do list).

Dehawkins, I like your ideas! I'll have to share them with my downline. There's only one thing I need clarified, based on what I learned once in college about advertising. People need to see the same thing over and over before they'll get curious enough to open it. Using the splash pages that everyone else is using would help make any given program more noticed. Although I'm sure that once people have seen the same splash page for the 10th time and after they would be less likely to read it. I think they said it takes about 6-8 times, and more than that would probably be overkill. Of course, unlike mailings, online promotion is a bit harder to predict.

Anyhow, I would appreciate yours and others comments on this topic.

And on the same theme as the last post, how would you make an effective splash page? I'm VERY new to marketing and at this point I wouldn't have a clue where to begin (and no budget for someone else to do it for me). Any generic tips would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hi Lisa, maybe you can take a look at Tim's video that he made for teToolBox...
http://www.timlinden.com/blog/traffic-exchanges/video-create-a-splashpage-with-tetoolbox/

Just follow the link that says "open video here"

Wow!

Some good advice here. That is what I like about SX vs other exchanges. The calibre of the regular surfer here seems to be a lot higher than some of the others. This thread proves my point!

use the tool box to make simple splash pages (te toolbox)

you can also make banners I believe as well as track your pages using the rotator etc

For dehawkins

As the admin of the Traffic Exchange List Ranking page, can you tell us exactly what the 'Traffic' column consists of?
I have too many exchanges now and would like to reduce them. Your list will be very helpful.
Thanks

As I recall, Traffic is the number of hits that site receives. If you want a better insight into the various exchanges, you may find the reports pages more helpful as they include rankings from TopExchanges and AffiliateFunnel, as well as showing sites by Hits, Unique hits, Ratio of Unique to total hits, Reach, and Alexa ranking.

Tim is the author and creator of TrafficExchange List, so he may be able to provide a more detailed explanation of how the factors are calculated.

*edited: Traffic is the number of hits tracked over a 6 week period by 3 rotator services: StartXchange, Traffic Exchange List, and TEtoolbox.

Which if you look at some, there are less than 100 hits over 6 weeks! That means out of all the people using the StartXchange rotator AND the other two, not even 100 hits were received out of all those rotators. So they *could* deliver more hits, but the fact that nobody is using them or that they are delivering so slow is a big indicator there on if it's GOOD or BAD. But hey I'm spilling the beans on my upcoming series =P

Thanks Tim,

Love your new splash pages for your new series. I would certainly get on the list if I wasn't already on it.
