I need something for my computer (or a decent printable template) that let's me assign tasks to days of the week instead of unique days. Monday rather than May 5th for example. The tasks need to not be limited to specific periods, simply I need to do sometime today sort of thing.

Hints anyone?

(compatibility with Vista is necessary)

hmmmm

I am going to mention the dreaded 'M' word!!

Microsoft ARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

LOL, being serious,
if you have Outlook, you can set recurring events based on day of the week. Also, you can set an event as a day-long event (I think - long time since I used)

You could try Daily to-do-list (http://www.dextronet.com/daily-to-do-list.php) and Swift-to-do-list (http://www.dextronet.com/swift-to-do-list.php)

I use swift-to-do-lite, and its really cool, but it does work on a calendar basis. I think the daily to do list allows daily events as well as calendar events, but I have never tried it so can not be sure.

I'm trying out the To-Do list, looks like it might work for my needs.

Edit-in: I might have spoken too fast. I have sent a message to Dextronet, but for anyone else that tries the daily to do thing, don't add a recurring task with a reminder in which the reminder time has already passed. You will get an error that doesn't seem to be fixable without reinstalling the software.

In all my years of helping people with their PCs and programs, Outlook is the program that caused most trouble. It might have been OK if it didn't have that horrible mail client built-in, but it causes so many hangups and crashes that I can't understand how people can live with it in their computer. I ditched it several years ago, and when re-installing Office, have made sure that Outlook is not included.

I save all my appointments in my cell phone, so I can bring it with me always. Except for lack of overview, this is a very practical solution.

I would point out that outlook and its horrible offspring, outlook express, are non-existant on my computer. I removed OE and never permitted Outlook to install when I added Office.
Mind you, I also removed the IE exe, which really hacks off those programs that try to run it to access the net :D
