With the new forum people will discover new things all the time. Here could be a good place to post your tips!

For every thread there's a number which tells how many replies there are. Click this number, and you'll have a list of the replies and a chance to go directly to each post.

Good idea Inge.

Will post when I get some bright ideas.

Cheers

Seems like this wasn't a good idea after all.
If you get the list and click on the name, you get the user's profile, which is OK. If you click on the number, you get a "no match" message.

But the bad thing is that after doing this the browser, at least IE7, gets stuck and you have to exit and restart to reconnect. Just closing the tab doesn't help.

hmmmmm

I am having no such problems, but then I am using firefox :)
I have also checked it under IE6, and it works too - could be an IE7 issue?

It could be IE7 as it's not as stable yet to support some features. IE7 will close down browser if you open more than 4 Tabs. I got it a few times while writing some articles & replying to emails & sh.. got to re-write all over again. If you open New Windows than it's still alright.

I got stuck a few times with IE7 initially but of-late I am experiencing getting stuck with firefox also when some selective sites that have video/audio comes by. I experienced it on 3 video/audio websites so far. The rest are alright.

Don't know if anyone experienced such issues ?

Regards,
Frankie

I don't know but I'll check the next time I use my backup system. I have IE6 and Firefox and Opera there.

I notice that sent PMs are not saved like in the old forum.
I wish the PMs could be organized like the rest of the forum, in threads. Would that be just too much to ask?

What happens if someone thanks or "rep"s themselves?
I haven't tried yet, but it could happen by accident.... :)

I deleted a thread to make a new one because I didn't find the edit button (Again, those buttons are too small! :) )
The thread is stuck there, and won't disappear!

If it's deleted it's meant to be deleted! No one can read it anyway, so I can't see the point... :)
What can we do about it?

Hi Inge,

Sent messages are saved as well. In your control panel, click "List messages" in the left navigation menu. Under "Folder Controls" there is a drop down menu which says Inbox by default. Click the blue arrow on the right which brings up the menu. Click "sent messages" and then "Go." :)

There was another thread somewhere with this info, but don't recall exactly where it is at the moment...

Hi inge,

I believe as soon as well we all will understand how does work this new our forum. And then, only then, we'll can ask for other features.

Thanks Gina, I missed the sent messages but I didn't know how to find them, and it was so obvious, really! :)

They are kept so admins/moderators can see the deleted posts. That way if people post abusive items, but delete it so it's not "found out", we still know about it.

Nothing, it won't let you ;-)

You can change in your options somewhere if they do, but the automated ones won't be saved (mass team/downline ones)

In my opinion, if someone deletes his own message, it should be removed. No reason for it to take up space.

For anyone who wants a "quiet" surfing session using IE7...
All you have to do is go to Tools and choose Manage Add-Ons
then click on any of the ActiveX Controls to disable them...

Is there a way to mark certain boards read like in the old forum? I see a general one to mark ALL boards (and topics) read, but not the individual sections.

Hi Jackie,

You can mark a board as read, but not a thread

so for example,
you can mark the forum board Comments, Suggestions, and Help as read,
you can not mark New forum tips and suggestions as read
HINT: you can go to the last page of a thread and back and this will mark it as read

To mark a board as read:
Go to the board index, eg Comments, Suggestions, and Help
select Forum Tools - it is at the top of the list of threads in the forum in the grey border area, it then generates a drop-down menu of options:
Post a thread
Mark this forum read
Subscribe to this forum
View parent forum
click on Mark this forum read - and sorted - all the threads now show as read :)

I have been using IE7 without experiencing too many pauses
since disabling the activeX and flash which has made surfing
a lot better...and I usually have 3 or more tabs going as well...
PS: It is not totally sound free because some sites have the
sound embedded...

I wish more TE webmasters were like Tim and offered their
members the option of accepting sites with or without sound!

Also, it would be more considerate IF those people who are
using audio/video DID NOT opt for auto-play along with NOT
giving you the option of muting or pausing the media player
which DOES take away one's RIGHT to "Freedom of Choice!"
