Hi!

This thread is for all of you who are new to StartXChange (SX) or to Traffic Exchanges (TEs). The more experienced members will be posting simple tips on how to use SX to advertise your programs and to build your lists effectively.

When I first started using TEs, I used to earn TE credits and then advertise my programs with little or no result . I thought TEs were useless. After asking around, I came to realise that there are more effective ways to use TEs - and that is NOT to advertise your affiliate page or your default home business page or blog!

In this thread, we'll discuss how to use splash pages, squeeze pages, tracking, personal branding, banners, autoresponders, the whole shebang!

Tip #1: You really have to drive lots of traffic to your splash/squeeze page to get good opt-in rates.

In SX, free members can adjust the rate of delivery of their websites to a maximum of 500 views a day. Make sure you do so. If you can, upgrade your account so that you can set it higher.

Why? Well, SX has 35,672 Members currently. If only 10% of them surf regularly, that's 3,000 active surfers. If you only set your delivery rate to the default 100 views a day. You're only exposing your splash page to about 100 unique visitors a day. And your page will probably not be exposed to the same 100 people the next day. Why is that important?

The prevailing wisdom of internet marketers is that most people need around 7 viewings of a site before they take action e.g. to opt-in or to buy. If your splash page is viewed by 100 visitors a day, and most likely they'll not be the same people viewing it over the next few days, then it'll be at least another 7 days before anyone opt-ins to your list. By that time, you've probably concluded that TEs are useless!

Action Steps: If you have less than 1,000 SX credits in your account, now's the time to start surfing! Join a team and set a personal surfing target. Try to surf 100 - 200 pages a day every day. You will be getting 30 - 70 credits everyday (surf more if you can) and 100 free banner advertising credits. Assign all those credits to your splash/squeeze page and set the delivery rate as high as possible.

P.S.: Please leave your comments or questions below. More to come soon. Contributions are welcome. :)

Wow Pericles! I hadn't thought about opening the assignment rate all the way up. I'd been trying to manage my credits, so I'd keep my advertising going on the days that I couldn't surf as much. I'll give your way a try.

Sincerely,
Terry

Where can I go to look at my account info that will show my paying info for my
upgrade, and tell me when I'm to pay for my upgrade again? Also is there a page that tells what each and everything means on the site right after you sign in? Like an index page?

Thanks

To Join a Team simply go to the Teams Page, and select a team, and follow the join team link

To help you decide which team is right for you, look at their requirements to be a member - some have none, others have a minimum surfing or activity requirement - PM the team leader(s) if you have any questions.

The advantages of being in a team vary from team to team, but can include internal competitions, increased member support from other team members, and an opportunity to share in credits if your team wins one of the monthly contests :)

The Goal setting is found on your members page, by default it is usually set to Level 1, but you can edit it to whatever you choose.

The GOAL refers to what you set as your target activity level. The GOAL target is set as being the middle of the Activity Level.

The idea of the GOAL is that if you surf the specified number of pages every day, you will reach your target within 14 days, usually less. It is based on just surfing, so if you are earning activity points from other sources, you may reach it faster.

Yo can see the surfing targets for the various levels by going to the Daily Views (http://www.startxchange.com/members/position.php?action=daily) page
http://www.startxchange.com/members/...p?action=daily (http://www.startxchange.com/members/position.php?action=daily)

To see your activity points on a day-by-day breakdown, go to the View my Points (http://www.startxchange.com/members/position.php?action=points) page
http://www.startxchange.com/members/...?action=points (http://www.startxchange.com/members/position.php?action=points)

If you have any questions, or need clarification - just ask :)

This question is relating to the statement that is right next to this question and that is when is this going to happen? For I'm very anxious to learn all of this info!!!!!

What are the difference in these two pages "splash pages, squeeze pages"?

"- and that is NOT to advertise your affiliate page or your default home business page or blog!" Is it ok to use a link that I have had shorten by the site "tinyURL" at least til I get my splash page finished?

Just trying to learn!!!!!!!

Thanks,

Generally speaking,

A squeeze page aims to get you to submit details for a follow up, be it newsletter, e-book, download, etc. ie it attempts to 'squeeze' you onto the owners list.
A splash page is a fast loading page that advertises a program - it can be a squeeze page.

As far as the point about using a link to the affiliate page is that virtually every member of that program will be promoting their affiliate page, and most program affiliate pages look identical to the casual surfer.

as an example spot the difference when viewing between
http://www.startxchange.com/?referer=dehawkinz
and
http://www.startxchange.com/?referer=kfifi78

Using a tinyurl, or any other url shortening service does not resolve this, as the surfer is not interested in the url, just the page being viewed.

Hope that helps clarify :)

NOTE: Here is a question that I asked Inge, Team Leader for Up and Forward...Isn't expecting them to qualify at 10k per month a bit grandiose? (not You, the amount members need to surf) Most non-team members are hard put to make an effort to even surf for themselves how do you get the members to achieve that goal...

That is an amazing accomplishment that you should pass on to Management :D - msbeejay

Answer: Well let me clear up a misunderstanding: That is not a requirement for membership, but for sharing the jackpot if the team is lucky enough to win. The membership requirement is to stay in level 9 or better, which is much easier, but more than half of our members have reached 10,000 sites already!

Of course we have ways of rewarding active members ... :)

Thought the above Q & A might help anyone wanting to Join a Team!

God Bless and Keep on surfing everyday to 100 page views plus!

Pericles, your post is great. To all the newcomers, the point is that you have to surf a lot and have a lot of credits to effectively advertise at TEs, short and weak campaigns won't do any good so save your credits, surf and think how to pull it off. Cheers

Totally awsome, new to TEs or a veteran, there's always something new to learn and handing all that overwhelming info about optimizing TE results in forums, ebooks et al in small chunks that peeps can handle, grasp and apply is a dire need.
