I'm sorry for complaining, Tim, but I do not feel the love when the prize page says this:

Congratulations, you've won 2 impressions!

You've also been entered into our daily prize drawing!

"2" IMPRESSIONS! Give me a break!..and....I'm in the prize drawing. I never win them. Personally, I am sick of all of the RANDOM drawings going on all over with the Traffic Exchanges. Why not put those credits on the surfbar and let the surfers win them on there. The ones that surf more, get more.

Just my "2" cents.

That's the way it is. Do not feel compelled to click the daily prize link if you don't want any extras.

I have to give you a warning: You will enter into a daily draw for 1000, 750, or 500 credits. Naturally, anyone who feels he/she doesn't deserve them should not click.

StartXchange is for winners, not for whiners.

Personally I think this way of sharing extra credits is way much better than the silly "games" they have on some exchanges.

Thank you for sharing your opinion.

I didn't say I didn't want to click the daily prize if that is what is provided. I wasn't talking about games either. My preference would be to spread the bonus credits that are given away randomly onto the surfbar so everyone that surfs can share in them. Of course, those that surf more, get more (rightly so).

It's also not a matter of feeling deserving. LOL And it is not about winners and whiners. This is just my feedback to Tim. Take it the way you like.

It is difficult to please everybody all of the time and you have your right to voice an opinion, however in all fairness to Tim, the resources available are not unlimited and he has to be careful about how much of each prize is given out...Afterall everybody who surfs "claims a prize" and gets entered into the daily drawing...
Further, he is continually maintaining this site so everybody will have a safe and trouble-free surfing session!

God Bless and Keep on surfing everyday!

Well Snowyowl,

expressions like "2" IMPRESSIONS! Give me a break!"
and "I am sick of all of the RANDOM drawings"

sounds more like whining to me.

You are entitled to express your opinion, but take care how you do it. In your VERY first post here you go ahead and behave like a spoiled child.

Take care to read a little more before you post, and get the hang of the positive culture we have here.
Suggestions for improvements are welcome, but if expressed the wrong way all you'll achieve is to get people against you. That's not what you really want, is it?

You talk to Tim like you know him. I don't think you do. With all the work he has put down into this exchange, and his dedication for an exchange that IMHO has become the world's number one, he deserves some credit.
I do not always agree with how Tim does things, but there are many things to consider, and that I disagree sometimes doesn't necessarily mean that I'm right.

Stay here a little longer, and you'll get more than two impressions. Lots more. And all is not credits.

Oh ... And working on your attitude might do some good! :)

In a sense, you are already getting what you ask for...
http://www.startxchange.com/members/surfingbonus.php

The stacking bonuses are much more flexible and beneficial than getting a flat 1-6 credits every approx. 20 pages. The entries into the credit drawing are just icing on the SXC 'cake'. ;)

Agree with ameastre!

Look at all the Additive bonuses that Tim is giving us in addition to your base bonus of 0.33 surfing credits:

Bonus % Your %
Active Level Bonus (0-10%) 5%
125/150/175+ Surfing Bonus (5/10/15%) 0%
Team Surfing Bonus (0-10%) 2%
Checklist Bonus (10%) 10%
View 20 Bonus (10%) 10%

Just by surfing consistently and joining a team, I'm getting an additional 0.17 credits on top of my 0.33 credits (total: 0.5 credits per page viewed). And on top of that, we get the "surf 100" prize bonuses and lucky draw, AND a wonderful SXC forum community, newletter and Tim's Blog. Such wonderful things just cannot be enumerated.

A tip: Criticism is welcome, but be constructive. :D I suggest you read Who Moved My Cheese? by Spencer Johnson, M.D, QBQ!: The Question Behind the Question by John G. Miller and Fish! by Stephen C. Lundin, Ph.D., Harry Paul and John Christensen. Negative criticism wrecks relationships, destroys trust and seldom changes situations for the better, unless you're God! :(

I'm sorry you all didn't like my reaction to "2" impressions. With a conversion of 1 credit to 10 banner impressions, "2" impressions is worth 1/5 of "1" credit. It was simply a reaction to what I felt was a ridiculous bonus. Sorry, but I felt insulted as a surfing member!

Well, you're quite new here, so I guess you assumed that the extra credits or impressions are something you have deserved. But it's a gift, given by Tim's system, and the size of it is random. If I'm not terribly wrong, it ranges from one and up, and the maximum size is determined by the number of free credits/impressions at the time. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

A word of advice: Check out the system, and read before you post. There's a whole lot of useful information here, and this question has been dealt with before so a little effort would have resolved the issue for you before you got heated up.

I wish you a very happy stay here at StartXchange. Most of its users are very happy with the system and all the extras you can get. I think you will too, once you get to know it better.

Might I suggest that the next time you have a LEGITIMATE beef, take it directly to Tim thru Live Support or the Private Messages System instead of airing it out in the forum community? It will save you from being roasted!

I'm not new here, Inge, and everyone seems to be missing my point. Anyway, I appreciate your efforts to try to make me understand your points. Yes, I should have been more diplomatic in expressing my displeasure. Sorry, Tim!

I did a search for my topic (prize page) and didn't get any results similar to my complaint.

Inge, your response to me was also a reaction and resulted in the reaction I gave back to you. So, my response to you is to learn how to respond to a disgruntled member. I'm sure it's not in a way that would keep them on the defense.

msbeejay, I know you would like to keep things all rosy here...but...I think we should not be shut up from expressing when we are unhappy about something at StartXchange. I agree that if we are unhappy about something that we have to not "react".

Anyway, I've learned to be more diplomatic with a complaint (count to 10 or sleep on it before "reacting"). Let me rephrase.

"Tim, I was surprised when I saw on the prize page that I won 2 impressions equal to 1/5 of 1 credit. I realise that this is a bonus on top of other bonuses and that I am included in the prize drawing, but 2 impressions seems so small after surfing 100 pages."
Subject should have been, "I won 2 impressions."

Cheer Up Snowyowl!
This is a forum where you can express your views, unlike some where the owner boots you or cries wolf and bites back lol

Look on the happy side - for every 100 pages clicked you get some sort of prize - some better than others

Look at it like this - you need less credits to convert to banner impressions after that prize :p

Happy surfing and advertising

soph

Truth be told "snowyowl" everybody here at one time or another has probably received a less than thrilling award when they "Claimed a Prize" after surfing 100 pages! The difference is they did not immediately go and post their displeasure about it in the forum!

They just matched the icons and moved on...Surfed somemore and received some respectable awards for their efforts...

Enough said on this subject, let's move on...

God Bless and Keep on surfing everyday!

EDIT: Please excuse me if this came across too strong...Just demonstrating the difference between saying something "rosy" and blurting out what really is on my mind.

Geee msbeejay, your pm to me was much different than what you just posted here!...and I could not respond to your pm because you have yours set to you don't accept pm's. I had nothing but good to say to you.

Thank you, soph142. Much better way to look at it. =))

if we didnt express our opinions tim wouldnt know to sort stuff out.

I admit that sometimes we dont say the right things in the right place but we are all human and lets be honest no member here is a constant ray of light even me.

So please lets be tolerant and think before we react and be a bit nicer if someone is upset. After all if you were upset you would want them to be nicer to you and understand that you arent always happy with things.
