Here's some ideas for those of you who are webmasters or affiliates...

Instead of having your visitors see the following message "YourSiteName is down for scheduled maintenance, site will be back online soon" why not put up an alternate page up instead or at least spice up the message with some blurb about what your site is about?

Also for any of you with sites that take too long to open, why not make a splash page that hilights the benefits of your program or products?

Remember it is only a ten second timer and you have just a few seconds to capture the visitor's attention, so instead of having all those distracting background graphics you should direct their ENTIRE attention to your offer and how they will benefit, etc.?

Also, when adding your site into rotation be sure to use the correct URL (see example)
Referral URL: (For telling your friends) http://www.startxchange.com/?referer=msbeejay
not the login URL http://www.startxchange.com/members/ (https://www.startxchange.com/members/)

Thank you...

Most of the links are referring URL, so when the sites goes down it could be anytime. I serious doubt that they know that it went down.

Sometime when i see sites that are down, i do feel bad for them as its a wasted credit.

Msbeejay, i totally agree that if sites are taking too long to open, make a splash page that highlights the benefits of your program or products. Its very very important to do a test click on your link and also if you have friends in other country ask them to try your link and see how long does it take to fully load up. It will be a total waste of credit if it falls above 10sec. Which i have seen a few sites taking more then 10sec.

Thanks for the tips Msbeejay.

Agreed. Like today HitsConnect is down for maintenance. I wonder if their subscribers knew that was going to happen...

Sometimes the webmaster does let their members know that there is going to be some scheduled maintenance done and they will be sent an email when the site is back up...but sadly not all site owners think of that?
